Gem Minerals from Badulla

The deposit located at Wewalhinna Villag-approximately  10 km away from Uva Wellassa University. It is one of a skarn deposit. But it is not still excavated .The land belongs to Mr. Karunarathne. He told me that there is a coal deposit in front of his land. Then I went there and got some pieces of minerals. Unfortunately those were not coal. Those were solid sludge of iron. Then I found corundum from his land. Barrel shape corundum were weathered and eroded. But we can add value for it as undergraduates of Uva Wellassa University. Corundum can be used for ceramic industry etc.

 Special thank for Mrs.Gayani Amaraweera
